Cloud Computing is fast becoming the way forward in data storage and inter-office collaboration  Whether you are a one-man-band or a multinational corporation, Cloud Computing should be the next upgrade you look into. If you are starting out and want to learn about Cloud Computing or if you know all you want/need to know and are looking at your choices, the following may help you take the next step.

What is Cloud Computing?

The biggest difference between Cloud computing and other computing is file storage. Normally, files are stored on ‘locally’, i.e., on your computer or server in your company building and can only be accessed from specific locations. With Cloud Computing, the files are saved to a server that may or may not be located on your premises or even in a different country and is accessible from multiple locations with little or no limitations. The servers can also be different sizes, varying from small boxes in the corner of an office to entire floors or buildings. Computers can log onto these servers either automatically or by entering a code. Cloud Computing allows for file-sharing to be made easier. Some forms even allow you to work on documents at the same time as other people. This is often referred to as "Live Collaboration" or "Real Time Collaboration".

Because your files are saved somewhere other than on your computer, if your computer ever gets lost, stolen, or dies, you won't lose information. Your recovery time will also be much faster as most Cloud Computing allows for quick recovery of backed up items. Though backup to a secondary Cloud Computing system is often recommended as servers themselves are not impervious to damage or theft. Some examples of Cloud Computing are; iCloud, Google Suite, Microsoft Office 365 and Dropbox. From start-ups and one-man-bands to fully fledged companies with multiple employees, we would recommend moving to a Cloud Computing infrastructure and in particular Google Suite.
